AACV2 operator manual

How to run the full AACV2 operator and device workflow

This guide is written for an operator with zero prior knowledge. It starts at aac.rpcnacovenanters.com, explains how to control the board, and walks through launching and using the paired participant device at /device/[sessionId].

Important operating rule

The operator stays on the main board at /. The participant uses the paired device route created from the Tools drawer. The operator changes boards and context; the participant responds from the device.

Step-by-step workflow

Quick start checklist

Use this short version when you need to get a participant session running quickly.

  1. Open the operator board at aac.rpcnacovenanters.com.
  2. Choose the church context that matches the conversation.
  3. Enter the candidate, operator, congregation, and any operator notes.
  4. Choose the current AAC board that fits the question or response you are guiding.
  5. Use Start device to create a participant session.
  6. Copy link or Open device on the participant tablet.
  7. Guide the participant by changing boards from the operator board while they build responses on the device.
  8. Save the session and end the device session when finished.

How to use the operator board

The operator board is the command center for the full AAC session.

  1. The top bar lets you save the current session, reopen the tutorial, open the full manual, or inspect the experimental V2 board view without leaving the standalone app.
  2. The left panel holds the session setup, speech and scan controls, paired device controls, and operator notes.
  3. The middle panel is the active AAC workspace where you choose boards, use symbol tiles, and trigger quick responses.
  4. The right panel is the live transcript and session summary area used for reviewing, clearing, and exporting the captured responses.

How to run the participant device

The participant device is a separate, stripped-down route that mirrors the operator-selected board.

  1. Start on the operator board and create the device session from the paired device panel.
  2. Use Copy link to send the participant link, or Open device if you are launching it yourself.
  3. The participant route is aac.rpcnacovenanters.com/device/[sessionId].
  4. The participant can tap tiles and quick responses to build a sentence, then use Send response.
  5. The operator receives the participant response back on the main operator board without leaving the operator workflow.
  6. The standalone /device route is for previewing the device UI. It is not a live paired session.

Saving and ending the session

Finish each session cleanly so the record is usable later.

  1. Review the live transcript and operator notes before saving.
  2. Use Save on the operator board to write the AAC session into the standalone system.
  3. Use End device when the participant session is complete so the tablet is not left attached to an old board.
  4. If you need another participant or another conversation, start a fresh device session from the operator board.

Troubleshooting and common issues

These are the most common things to check when something feels wrong.

  1. If the participant board is blank or stale, use Refresh device from the paired device controls.
  2. If the participant cannot see the correct board, confirm you are on the right context and board on the operator panel.
  3. If responses do not return, check that the participant is on the live /device/[sessionId] link and not the preview /device page.
  4. If the participant needs a brighter or darker interface, change the device theme from the paired device controls on the operator page.
  5. If the operator needs a faster yes-or-no path, switch to a simpler board or use the quick responses instead of typed input.
